During the past year we have maintained our monthly meetings, which are focused on the progress of the four graduate students. For this our second annual meeting we wanted to have a somewhat more long-term perspective, and discuss possible directions beyond the work already in progress.

In addition to the original four seniors, the four students and our two external members (Bo Jansson and Per Lötstedt), we had also invited Mikhail Dzugutov, Anatoly Belonoshko and Pavel Korzhavui. One particular theme of this meeting was to explore how we could connect what we are doing on continuum scales with phase field and other models, with models on atomic scales, i.e. molecular dynamics and ab initio, areas where Mikhail, Anatoly and Pavel are experts. We also reviewed the status of the four student projects, which show good progress after approximately 1.5 years of work.
