Undergraduate courses

New basic courses in mechanics were given for the second time this year. New textbooks have been used and some of the teachers have worked on the modification of an american textbook so as to make it conform to SI-units, ISO-standard notation, and reasonable pedagogical proceedures (such as not mixing numerical and symbolical computions). New continuation courses in the second year were given for the first time. Several teachers meetings were held and pedagogical methods were discussed. Mandatory home assignment problems have been included as part of the requirements for most of the courses in the first and second year (unfortunately this meant that a course number had to be changed from 5C1101 to 5C1103). The performance of the students seems to have improved as a result of the home assignments.

The following is a list of undergraduate courses given during 94/95, here given with Swedish names (english translations given within parenthesis). One might note that the course 5C1102 will also be given for D (Computer science) but since it has been moved to the second year it was not given this year. One may also note that the courses 5C1903, 59, 77, all run for the last time. 5C1977 will, however, be succeded by a similar course for T and M students.
