New Tutorial on HPC

(2.5 ECTS)

We are pleased to announce that PDC and KCSE Graduate School are offering a new short introductory course on several aspects of high-performance computing (HPC); emphasis is on practical aspects of daily work, e.g. Makefiles, revision control, compilers, libraries. The course is open to all KTH graduate students with focus on computational work, and other interested people using PDC resources.

Eligibility:
- The course is offered for all graduate students at KTH which are using HPC in their research project. Being a KCSE student is preferred.
- An account at PDC is necessary for the lab part. Please apply for an account at PDC in advance if needed.
- Basic knowledge of programming

- At the end of this course students should have a good understanding of the basics of software development on Linux and High Performance Computing (HPC) system. They should be able to compile and link code.
- They should understand the use of compiler flags, and be able to use and create code libraries.
- They should also be able to use the source code management tools to manage their projects and use debuggers and profiling tools to fix bugs in the code and optimise its performance.
- They should also have develop an understanding of the different types of HPC system available both at PDC and around the world, and how to use them. With a specific emphasis on how to use PDC systems.
