The acoustical field behind a rotating wind-mill is considered numerically. The contribution of the force exerted by the blade on the fluid, blade acceleration and the noise due to unsteady shear-layers, are taken as acoustical source terms in the acoustics equations. These source terms are computed from a detailed, instantaneous flow field that is computed using Large Eddy Simulations (LES). The decomposition of the two computations yields high numerical efficiency while maintaining accuracy, enabling one to handle the quite complex acoustical problem of noise generation by a wind-mill. The calculations take into account ground effects (reflection) but at this stage neglect inflow non-uniformities and interaction of the blades with other structures (such a the mast and other wind-mills).
