AbstractA turbulent jet with azimuthal forcing has been investigated for different velocities, excitation amplitudes and frequencies by means of hot-wire anemometry. A turbulence reduction was observed when the frequency was close to the shear layer mode frequency. Conditionally sampling analysis has been applied in order to evince some details of the structures embedded in the flow. It seems that the excitation increases the production of turbulence by means of non-linear interaction and then saturates after the first diameter with a faster decay of all the modes but the subharmonic.
