Minimum-Turbulence-Level wind tunnel at KTH
AbstractThis paper gives a short background and description of the Minimum-Turbulence-Level (MTL) wind tunnel at KTH. It describes the philosophy behind the design of the various flow components of the tunnel and also gives essential flow-quality data. The MTL wind tunnel has a very good flow stability, very low turbulence and acoustic disturbance levels, which makes it ideal for stability and transition research. In addition the design with a long test section gives opportunities for studies of turbulent boundary layers at high Reynolds number. Included is also a list of ten representative papers from the tunnel that show a diversity of groundbreaking flow research carried out in the MTL wind tunnel.
