Project
Direct numerical simulations of high-Reynolds number turbulent pipe flow
Project DescriptionThe aim of the project is to develop and apply a parallelised DNS code for turbulent pipe and other wall-bounded flows based on a novel high-order method developed in our group. The new code is aimed to run efficiently on future exa-scale supercomputer systems typically involving billions of grid points in order to simulate higher Reynolds number turbulent flows. In the last part of the project, the intention is to carry out a large-scale DNS of turbulent pipe flow at high Reynolds numbers. The project will take place within the Swedish e-Science Research Centre (SeRC) and will be further supported by computer scientists from the network of SeRC and the computer centre at KTH (www.pdc.kth.se).
