In the upper part of a BWR (Boiling Water Reactor), the gas-droplet core flow interacts with the water film on the fuel
rods by droplet deposition and entrainment (annular flow regime). The net deposition on the rods needs to be sufficiently
high to avoid local overheating of the fuel rods. Presently, the knowledge about droplet deposition and entrainment is
limited (simple tube geometry, empirical correlations, etc.). The goal of this project is to improve the understanding of
droplet deposition. The results are of use for increasing the overall performance of BWR while maintaining high safety
requirements.
