International collaboration

KCSE represents KTH in a Joint Center for Computaitonal Science and Engineering, where Peking University (PKU) and the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) are the other two partners. A formal Memorandum of Understanding to create the center was signed by the presidents on all sides in January 2009.

Kickoff 2009
Workshop in Beijing, March 20, 2009 with participants from KTH, PKU and IACS

The aim of the Joint Center is to establish a framework to foster important contributions to the development and applications of computational methods in science and engineering. It gathers the best expertise in the three countries in the related fields. The intention of the Joint Center is to be a major international force in modeling complex systems and computational multiscale methods in science and engineering.

The Joint Center will conduct joint activities of the form below.

  • Master, PhD, and Post-doctoral Exchange Program

The Joint Center is a platform for international graduate education cooperation. The aim is that students should be able to go to another center node to carry out one or two years of research after having finished their graduate courses, and/or to continue with post-doctoral research for one or two years, after having received their PhD degrees. The details of these exchanges shall be in accordance with regulation specified in separate agreements.

  • Research Projects

International research groups shall be formed within the Science Areas. Scientists from each node will be selected to maximize complementarity. Exchange within the groups will be promoted.

  • International Workshops/Symposiums

The Joint Center will organize one symposium with special topics every other year.

  • Training School

The Joint Center will organize one training school each year.
