II:4 Turbulence at small Rossby numbers

Turbulence in a rapidly rotating container, i.e. at small Rossby numbers, has a completely different structure compared to that in a container at rest. Available numerical models are useless at small Rossby numbers. New one-point models, based on transport equations, will be formulated and validated by experiments. The results enable improved design of inlets to centrifuges. (This project does not really belong to the category of material processes, but has been put here due to the focus on turbulence modelling, which is also the case for several of the projects within this program area.)
