II:7 Modelling of the XLPE-Cable manufacturing process
|
The final properties of XLPE-based high voltage cable are very much influenced by its process of manufacture, in the
course of which a number of different components, such as polyethylene, chemical additives and by-products, can appear
in solid, liquid or gas phase. The overall aim of the project will be to develop a theoretical and numerical model for the
manufacturing process. For the former, amongst other things, constitutive relations for the internal structure of the materia
l
will have to be derived; for the latter, modules for the FEMLAB finite-element software will be developed.
